Because the Kano State government disregarded a court order to compensate victims of the Filling Idi Demolition exercise with N30 billion, a Federal High Court blocked the government’s finances.
24 bank accounts in Kano State are affected by the blocked order, including the state’s Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) account.
The Kano State Government has been ordered by Justice E.A. Ekwo, the presiding judge, to appear in court on January 18 and give a justification for the N30 billion that was frozen in the impacted bank accounts.
The Masallacin Eid Shop Owners’ Incorporated Trustees are the intended recipients of the monies.
