AIG seeks partnerships with local communities for intelligence collection

Mr Yahaya Abubakar, Assistant Inspector General of Police for Zone 14, has stated that greater collaboration with local communities and information collection will help to mitigate the country’s security concerns.

Abubakar made the statement during a visit to the Zonal headquarters in Katsina on Thursday by executive members of the Police Community Relations Committee, or PCRC.

“Partnership and Intelligence gathering are part of the core values of community-based policing and are therefore essential for its successful implementation,” he went on to say.

He urged them to continue their combined efforts by expanding their operations to the grassroots.

The AIG reiterated his full support for the PCRC, stating that his doors were always open to the committee’s executives and other members.

However, Abubakar reminded them that, like the police, PCRC members were required to be apolitical and non-religious when it came to security concerns.

He vowed to constantly invite them to the Zonal Command Monthly Strategic Leadership Management meetings so that they may participate in the ongoing fight against crime and criminals in the zone.
