As police begin patrolling, the FG repairs the vandalized sections of the second Niger Bridge

Repairs to the vandalized sections of the Second Niger Bridge have been implemented by the Federal Government of Nigeria.

Two months ago, it was found that the bridge had been vandalized, with metals protecting vulnerable sections of the bridge having been stolen.

This prompted the need for constant bridge patrols by security personnel.

According to CP Aderemi Adeoye, commissioner of the Anambra State Police, who led a squad of policemen on a patrol of the bridge on Thursday, the Federal Ministry of Works has repaired the vandalized sections.

Adeoye has announced that, starting now, the bridge would be patrolled regularly to keep it and its users safe.

His words were, “We have patrolled the whole length of the bridge frequently to identify the susceptible places.

It has come to our attention that the vandalized sections of the bridge have been repaired by contractors working under the supervision of the Federal Ministry of Works. These workers are employed by Julius Berger. We have a civic duty to see to it that the general public benefits from this infrastructure.

We’ll make sure the bridge is constantly monitored. The bridge is obviously underutilized, which runs counter to the very point of building it.
