Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), has been released by the Department of State Services (DSS) so that he may have a second medical opinion.

Ifeanyi Ejiofor, Kanu’s primary attorney, stated on Friday that the IPOB leader had been examined by doctors at a hospital in Abuja.

A statement released by Ejiofor reads, “We are glad to inform you that Onyendu Mazi Nnamdi Kanu met with his choice personal physician yesterday (Friday) in a hospital in Abuja, outside the facilities of the State Security Service (SSS).

It is standard procedure for me to be present throughout the consultation. The medical checkup went smoothly and effectively, therefore he (Kanu) will be moving on to the next phase shortly.

Since his arrest and return from Kenya in June 2021, Kanu has been held in a DSS prison.

Kanu, while in police custody, frequently demanded a second opinion on his health.
