Mikael Silvestre predicts that next season, several teams will emerge to challenge Man City for the league crown

Ex-Gunners defender Mikael Silvestre thinks two teams may challenge Manchester City for the Premier League crown next year.

After catching long-time leaders Arsenal and winning the league last season, Pep Guardiola and the Cityzens will want to make it four titles in a row in the upcoming campaign.

Last season, Guardiola’s team won the title by defeating Arsenal. In contrast, Manchester United struggled to maintain consistency and finished third.

With new players on board, the likes of Liverpool, Chelsea, and Manchester United should all see improvement in the upcoming season.

But Silvestre is skeptical that Liverpool and Chelsea would fight for the title, putting their faith instead in Arsenal and Manchester United as Man City’s main rivals.

Arsenal has already spent almost £200m on new players this summer, while United has added English midfielder Mason Mount and Cameroonian goalkeeper Andre Onana to Erik ten Hag’s roster.

I think Arsenal will challenge again next season and I think Man United will cut the gap at the top too,” Silvestre told GGRecon when asked who he thought will challenge Man City for the Premier League title. Okay, I think that’s everything.

In all candor, I can’t say where Liverpool will be.

“I think Arsenal and Manchester United will be the closest challengers to Manchester City this season.”
