Yobe State Governor Mai Mala Buni has called the federal government to arrange for the rebuilding of the transmission towers that were destroyed in the attack by Boko Haram on a 330KVA transmission line.

This was revealed by Baba Malam Wali, the Secretary to the State Government, in a press statement that was provided to reporters in Damaturu on Saturday.

The statement claims that Governor Buni has ordered the State Rural Electrification Board and Yola Electricity Distribution Company (YEDC) to immediately restore the 330KVA transmission line from Potiskum to Damaturu in order to supply alternate power to Damaturu and its surroundings.

“Therefore, the public is kindly requested to exercise patience as the Government is making every effort to address the situation,” the statement said.

Additionally, it stated that the contract for the restoration of the damaged towers has already been given to the Transmission Company of Nigeria, or TCN.

According to the Ebantel, on Thursday night, transmission towers in Kasaisa, a neighborhood outside of Damaturu, the state capital, were destroyed by suspected Boko Haram terrorists.
