Iya Abbas, Senator for Adamawa Central Senatorial District, has denied accusations that the Federal Government handed food and cash to senators for distribution to their constituents.
During an interview with reporters in Yola on Monday, the Senator denied the allegations.
According to him, the food and cash gifts he provided during the previous Christmas and New Year celebrations were purchased with his own money.
“As I speak to you, no one has given me money or rice to distribute as relief to our constituents. It was a fabrication designed to harm our image.
“If it is true, let the contractor bring the invoice for each Senator,” he added.
The senator emphasized that the rumors are unfounded and urged those disseminating the ‘news’ to provide evidence.
