The Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP) NWC has named Governor Agbu Kefas of Taraba State to lead the party’s campaign in Bayelsa State.

Chief Press Secretary to the governor of Taraba, Yusuf Sanda, announced the appointment in a message to journalists on Sunday in Jalingo, the state capital.

According to the announcement, Kefas will head the 122-person team to the state before the governor’s race on November 11.

According to the statement, this action is meant to rally people for Bayelsa State Governor Douye Diri’s reelection bid in the next governorship election.

Dr. Agbu Kefas’s “stellar leadership qualities and democratic credentials” have been “applauded at home and abroad,” the statement proclaimed, justifying his promotion to the position.

The announcement claims that the Campaign Council’s formal induction will take place at the party’s national secretariat in Abuja on August 2, 2023.

In the upcoming Bayelsa governorship election, Governor Diri will be running under the banner of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), while the main opposition candidate, Timipre Sylva, will be running under the banner of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
