The APC in Zamfara has criticized the state government of the PDP for its handling of the region’s rising security threats

Those affiliated with the All Progressives Congress, APC in Zamfara State have voiced serious concern over the deteriorating security situation there, claiming that residents are instead of picking apples from their orchards, they are instead picking thorns.

The party said the administration of Governor Dauda Lawal is handling security matters in a disgraceful fashion, with allegations that terrorist violence has made killing innocent people in Gusau, the state capital, all too common.

Malam Yusuf Idris Gusau, the Party’s publicity secretary, made this announcement in a press statement he sent to journalists in Gusau.

While concurrently attacking Kwatar village and killing many, as reported by numerous media sites, the statement said, “just on Monday morning, the bandits had the effrontery to move through farms to attack a police station in Bungudu, killing a policeman.”

The State House of Assembly has voiced concerns about the situation, saying that it looks like there is no government in the state because of the brazen way the bandits are carrying out their killing spree.

A few weeks ago, some cops were killed near Bungudu, and early last week, some innocent residents were reportedly slaughtered at Boko village in Zurmi local government; the same thing has happened in Mada, Wonaka, and Ruwan Bore.

The PDP-led government under Dauda Lawal is doing nothing but lamenting, which is an indication of failure on the side of the government, and the wave of insecurity is spreading throughout the state, including to Bukkuyum and Anka.

We still don’t understand why he appointed a SA for finance and social issues instead of a special assistant for security, who would be responsible for overseeing and coordinating security matters on his behalf.

Instead of “just visiting different security formations without any work plan on how to address the security situation in the state where our people are being killed on a daily basis,” “we are calling on him to as a matter of urgency appoint security aides that will assist him.”

To those who have been uprooted, may their circumstances improve from what they are now, and may the spirits of the departed rest in peace with their loved ones.
