The FA of England will be appealing Lauren James’s red card against the Super Falcons

A statement was issued by the English Football Association after Lauren James was sent off during England’s match versus Nigeria.

James was sent off for stamping on Michelle Alozie in the second half of their encounter against the Super Falcons.

The Chelsea striker has been given an automatic one-game suspension, which may be increased by FIFA’s disciplinary committee.

A representative for the Football Association said, “Lauren is really sorry for her actions that led to the red card and is full of remorse.” This is completely unlike her at all.

As always, Lauren will have our full backing, and we’ll advocate on her behalf. Until a final decision has been made, we will not comment more out of respect for FIFA’s disciplinary procedure.

The FA is awaiting word from FIFA’s Disciplinary Committee on how long she will be banned from the sport.

After getting sent off in the opening group stage match for the Super Falcons of Nigeria, Deborah Abiodun sat out the first three games of the competition.
