The Reason AY Won’t Play at My Show: Basketmouth

Posted by

Well-known comedian Bright Okpocha, better known by his stage name Basketmouth, discusses why his colleague AY Makun will not be appearing at his event in Lagos this Sunday.
The two titans of the comedy world had already resolved their 17-year-old feud earlier in the year after an incident that led to them avoiding and not speaking to one another for more than ten years.

He stated that because the event is scripted, AY Makun will not be performing or making an appearance at the one scheduled to take place at the Eko Hotel & Suites in Lagos.

To quote him:

“AY has a ticket even though he is not scheduled to perform. He’s there. I mailed his ticket to him few days ago.

“I was aware that many people had been wondering if AY would perform. Not on the bill is he.

Actually, there aren’t too many comedians on my bill. I’m aware that Bovi is presenting me. Senator Dan The Humorous is performing, together with Aproko from Abuja. I also got a couple of people from Ghana.

“My show is already designed, so AY can’t even make a cameo.” It’s a three-hour set because we are taping it for television. The men who are producing and directing right now only arrived in the nation a few days ago.

Additionally, we had the entire show’s flow locked down before they ever touched down. No one would just walk on stage for this kind of show. That kind of show isn’t it. Everything has a timing. accuracy all the way to perfection.
