Isaac Aloma, alias ZicSaloma, a popular skit creator, has claimed that he was a lecturer at Kaduna Polytechnic before quitting to focus on skit making due to his low income.

In a recent podcast interview with actress Iyabo Ojo, Aloma stated that he has always been determined to succeed, emphasizing that he began his master’s program while doing his youth service.

He revealed that he served at Kadpoly and was hired as a lecturer following his youth service.

The sketch creator noted that while lecturing, he was still competing for singing competitions and even took part in an episode of The Voice Nigeria.

He described his entrance into skit-making as “unplanned,” noting that he struggled with it for three years before finding success.

Aloma stated, “I started making skits spontaneously. It was not something I took seriously, but it was gaining popularity. At first, I was putting my sketches on Facebook, and my friends seemed to enjoy them. They urged me to accomplish more. I just continued doing it. I did this for about three years. My fan base was not expanding, but those who enjoyed it liked it.

“Then, until the lockout period when I joined Tiktok, my work started to spread naturally.

“When I told my boss that I was quitting my lecturing job, she said, ‘Are you sure you know what you’re doing?'” I’m done lecturing. How much is the lecturer’s salary? [laughs]”

He also stated that when he stopped lecturing, he had not yet achieved success.
