Buari Olalekan Oluwasegun, aka Unlimited L.A, a popular cinematographer, has stated that the incorporation of foreign cultures and nudity in Nigerian music videos is done to appeal to music consumers.

According to him, some musicians request that video directors incorporate specific culture or nudity into their music videos depending on customer desires or target audiences.

“Talking about it [infusion of foreign cultures and nudity in Nigerian music videos], I think Nigerians are the most traveled people,” Unlimited L. A stated in a recent interview with Channels Television. I read about it someplace.

“As music video directors, we receive orders from the musicians. Some musicians may claim that they want their fans in the United States, Europe, or Africa to be able to relate to a specific music video. As a result, the consumer is crucial. We [music video makers] sometimes simply chuck everything [infusing multiple cultures] together and throw it out there.

“I believe it is because of Nigerians in the diaspora that we incorporate foreign cultures into our music videos.” It’s not as if we don’t have a culture of our own. We have our own culture as well. However, because we are targeting a diverse audience, we must incorporate numerous cultures into our music videos.”

He stated that, despite the fact that some foreign cultures appear to be “eroding our cultural respect, decency,” they were put into Nigerian music videos to appeal to the public.

Furthermore, Unlimited L.A acknowledged that the Nigerian cinematography business has made significant development, saying that whereas most Nigerian music videos were produced outside the country a few years ago, most Afrobeats music videos are now shot in Nigeria.
