The Confederation of African Football, CAF, reports that it has received over 5,000 applications for media accreditation for the Africa Cup of Nations.

CAF announced this on its official website on Saturday, claiming that the applications are 90% higher than those received for Cameroon in 2021.

According to the Ebantel, media accreditation expired on November 24.

More than 70 nations have sought to cover Africa’s largest event, according to CAF.

“Due to space constraints, CAF has implemented quotas for all countries due to high demand.”

“CAF remains committed to ensuring that fairness is applied uniformly in quota allocation and implementation.”

“CAF believes in creating access for media and promoting media freedom,” according to the statement.

CAF added that it will implement new guidelines for non-rights holders as well as restrictions on filming and other activities to protect media (TV) rights holders, and that priority will be given to the host nation at 30%, participating countries at 35%, regional (neighboring) countries at 10%, and the rest of the world (countries) at 25%.

“CAF is currently working closely with all the participating member associations to ensure that there is a fair representation in allocating the quotas of each country,” it said in a statement.
