Security concerns lead to the Senate rejecting El-Rufai and two others for confirmation

On Monday, Malam Nasir EL-Rufai, the former governor of Nigeria’s Kaduna State, was denied confirmation by the country’s Senate.

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has had 45 out of 48 ministerial nominations confirmed by the Senate.

Senate President Godswill Obot Akpabio made the announcement after the confirmation of all 45 candidates that Nasir El-Rufai and two others have not passed security clearance.

It was stated by Akpabio, “El-Rufai and two others have not been cleared by security checks.”

Malam Nasir El-Rufai of Kaduna, Stella Okotete of the Delta, and Danladi Umar of Taraba remain unconfirmed.
