Godwin Emefiele, the former governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), has been granted bail by a High Court located in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) in Maitama.

A N300 million bail was obtained for him.

Judge Hamza Muazu ruled on Wednesday, directing Emefiele to provide two sureties, each of whom must have landed property in the FCT’s Maitama District.

Emefiele was detained to Kuje Prison last week, thus he was not present in court for today’s hearings.

Two weeks ago, a different FCT High Court granted his release in a fundamental human rights lawsuit he filed against the federal government.

The trial was postponed until November 28 by the court.
